Labor Day Weekend

This past weekend was the first weekend this summer that we've been able to really spend time together as a family, away. Isaac's schedule only gives him 1 real weekend off a month and we always seem to have to do other stuff on those weekends, yard work, finishing Curtis' room, laundry or countless other things, but this weekend, we made time. And it was so worth it.
Sunday, we drove down to Cape Hatteras and met Juan and Brenna and her family and hung out at the beach and pool for the day. It was Curtis' first time at the beach this summer. He did not care for the ocean at all. He was perfectly content playing with a shovel and pail in the sand, far away from where the water was. But Brenna's girls, they absolutely loved the water. I have never seen anyone so incredibly joyous over the waves crashing around them. Both Lucy and Pru couldn't get enough. And Prudence's laugh, it may have been one of the greatest sounds I've ever heard. I'm so thankful I got to witness that joy this weekend. After a while, we went back to the house to play in the pool. Curtis learned to like the pool eventually, especially in his float. He didn't like his floaties too much at first, but we ended up being very thankful for those since he decided to reach in for a pool toy and feel into the pool. It scared him, and I don't think he actually went in again, but he had a blast running around the edge, sticking his feet in, sticking his hands in and playing in the faucet to wash your feet off with.
It was great getting to spend time with our second family. I know Isaac enjoyed seeing Juan, especially since it'd been almost a year since they hung out last. It was great to catch up some with Brenna and finally, after seeing Prudence several times this summer, she finally let me hold her. I just love that little girl and feel very blessed that she finally felt comfortable enough with me to let me hold her. Hopefully it won't be so long till I see her again that she's forgotten.
Monday, we drove north to Glouchester. My boss at the CPC had an end of summer party at their house on the river and since Isaac happened to be off, we decided to go. It was great to be so far out in the country that GPS barely picked up. Curtis made some new friends with one of the other nurse's sons and had a blast crawling all over him in the hammock. I tried not to panic every time Curtis almost feel out because Sawyer caught him every time. He did do a face plant off the swing, though, and bounced right back up. He is one tough little dude. It was great to hang out with my nurse friends outside of the clinic or IHOP and actually not talk about nursing too much. We had a great time.

He was not a fan of the ocean, but super cuddly any time we tried to go down to it.

Taking a little snack break from all the fun

Those giggles were the best!

Curtis was perfectly content right here

My little bug finally woke up

Curtis' new friend, they had so much fun

Curtis' first time on the lawn mower. He was fascinated.

Now, Isaac only has 2 more work days until he takes leave for the rest of the month. His family will be here about this time next week and we couldn't be more excited! It should be a great 10 days with them, and my favorite part, Isaac will be home the whole time. No nights alone, no mornings alone. Curtis won't know what to do with himself having Isaac to put him down for nap almost every day. It will be wonderful!

Mr. Piggy's 4 Months Old

Our Little turned 4 months this week. I know it was the same with Curtis, but it seems like they change so much so quickly. Lately, he has really begun chatting, he seems to love his voice. And he loves to laugh and give sly little smiles (although we can never catch them on camera).  I began oatmeal baby cereal with him this morning, although he just drooled most of it out. And speaking of the drooling, I'm pretty sure he's teething, although, like Curtis, I think this first tooth is gonna take forever. At least he is not extra fussy, just really drooly, and wants to nurse, all. the. time. He still won't take a bottle, but I will continue to try in the hopes that I can be at the clinic for longer periods of time. At this point, though, I'm only there a few hours a week cause Judah takes maybe an ounce as self-preservation, but he just waits for me to get home, then spends the rest of the day nursing. He is starting to grab at toys, really watch Curtis and Baxter as they play around, and he tries to sit up, but usually falls over. He actually enjoys tummy time, which is shocking, but I think it helps that he usually has Curtis to watch while he's on his belly. And the last major change is that he has decided he doesn't really like sleep anymore. A lot of nights, after I nurse him, he just looks up at me with this big grin on his face like it's party time. So we are up a lot at night. But thankfully, when Isaac is here, he does help out when he can, which is awesome because I can get a little sleep.
This next month is gonna be a busy one, but one we have looked forward to for months. The fun starts tomorrow with a day trip to the Outer Banks to hang out with the Perez/Lamb family, which I am super excited for. It'll be both the boys first beach trip this season, so I'm excited to see how Curtis is gonna do on the beach and at the pool. On Monday, we head out to the country for a Labor Day party with my nurse friends and all their families. And then in a week and a half, Isaac's family comes for a visit. It'll be the first time they've met Judah in person. We are looking so forward to spending time with them and introducing them to Judah. I know Curtis will have so much fun playing with his cousin Malakai. And it'll be the first time since the wedding that Lydia and Malakai have been out to the east coast, so it should be a great 10 days :)

Here's Judah's 4 month pictures. I did Curtis's 6 month pictures in these dress blues, but I'm pretty sure Judah won't fit in to them by then, so I decided to take them while they still fit.

We had to take a time out here because Judah was getting a little fussy. The time out didn't work though, but still a cute picture. He's such a great dad!
